Home Evening and the orange sky.

Last night we had family home evening with the family of Cleofa. We had stop buy the house sunday to take them to church and they were all very sad and upset because one of the older sons had come drunk and started hitting people. They had to call the police and he was put in jail. Any way I told them that we would come back the next day to check up on them and have family home evening with them. It's only been a month since she was baptized, I thought it would help would be a good time to teach them about this. The next day we was alittle apprehensive about going there because of the problem they had had the day earler. When we got there she was waiting with her hair fixed up and a clean dress on and there was sense of anticipation for what was about to happen. It was close to evening and the sky was turning orange and the birds were singing it was like time was standing still. It was very peace-full. We had the elders with us so they started the lesson out with the importance of the family and of course of being married. The elders was hitting them really hard with this knowing that there was a problem in this famly already. I dicided to step in and help them to understand it alittle bit better. I simple told them that that it was a comandment of god and that it was important to teach the children about this principle. In the end the elders ask Cleofa who she would like to give the closing pray and you know what, she offered to do it. It was such a wonderful prayer, she thanked heavenly father for his protection and help with the family, it was wonderful. And this coming for a gal that had a hard time praying before. After this we played a short game and passed out the treats [marshmallo's yum] and the night was done . What a difference a day makes.

Line of athority

Sunday I was given a chance to give the preistood to someone else. We had a baptizem saturday his name is Gumercindo Baraza Torris, he is a friend of Jusus Valencia who did the baptizem. I was asked to comfurm him a member of the church and then later give him the preistood. Also Liberato my first baptizem here and was there to receive the preistood of a elder and I ask if I could give that to him. Later as I was thinking about this I asked about the line of authority and if I could fine it on the enternet of the church. And one the men said that it would be easy to trace it back the the prophet who received it from Peter, James and John, the apostles of Jesus Christ. And direct line of authority to do his work and run his church here on the earth. Connie just reminded me that I had ordained Shem a elder also. I will have to check on Ammon and Alma and make sure that they get their line of authority given to them from me. It has been so long since I even thought about this gife in my life that I had forgot about who had given it to me. So I going to take a moment and check on it.
I guess that I am feeling and little old because I received a e-mail from my companion from the mission in Guatamala that it is our 40th aniversary since we were there. Wow I remember old people that had things like this happen to them. What can I say time passes very fast one minute you are ninteen going on a mission and the next it's been 40 years and it seem like only a moment. We love this work and our family that made the time go so fast. Thats all for now ;trying to keep it real.

Check on the sick gal

What a different a blessing can make. A week later we went back to check up on the gal in the hospital. And to our delight she was doing realy well. Her spirit was high and the bone had healed by it's self so it did not need to be pin together.
The gal was laughing with the family. They just close the arm that day. And had a skin graft pland for the next day. It is so wonderful to see how fast the lord works down here with the people. One minute she was down in the depts of dispar and the next week all is well and on the road to recovery. And she also knew that with a doubt the blessing and her faith in the Lord helped her to heal so quicky.

Who do you Love

Finding here in Mexico money talk. There is a twenty year old neices of one of our group who was in an accident. Her Aunt talk her into having a blessing for the sick. We could not go over as we had a full day. Call the missionary because there two of them for the blessing of the sick. They were to meet the Aunt at 9:00 oclock at a fountain. She was late and they had other appointment. They left. She did not get a blessing. Brent call to check on her and maybe lineup another time for the blessing. She was laughing have a good time with visiter. She was Ok and really did not act like she wanted a blessing. We did not worry about it.
Two weeks later we went by the house of the aunt and she ask us for a ride over to the hospital be visit with the gal because she was receiveing blood. Nobody was there to help her or be with her. I was surprized because you always need someone there to help you, like to get the medicine and help with other needs. I asked Otilia if she could still use a blessing because it was unusual to get blood at this point. We were picking up the elders and would be there to give her a blessing. After the blessing , we talked to her for a while and then we left to go to our visit with the elders. Later that night Otilia called and said that there was a problem and if we could help her. To make a long story short, nobody was helping the gal in the hosptial for 5 days. With no help, the doctors could not give her any medicine because someone needs to be there to buy the medicine for the doctors to use. With out this help, she would lose her arm because of the infestions. So it was time to go to the people that caused the accident and ask for money and help. We found them and they did not want to give use any help. Only ask us to get a paper signed to release their car so it could be sold then they said that they could give us some money. We told them that we needed the money now and not tomorrow. The reason that the hospital will not give us the paper is because they need a guarantee for payment. In the end, we got some promises to help and 300 pesos. A begining of the resolve for her, we hope. Down here very few people have insurance and thats why if the family dose not stay involved the people are left on their own with out help. The only reason that she receaved blood at all was that one of the nurses took pitty on her and used her own money to help. So there are some, good people down here trying to do the right thing. It's just really hard because of the way the system works here. And last but not least was the fact that after the blessing, the gal said that she felt better. She wanted to change, the way she was living her life and to put the Lord back into her life. Her family had left her there alone and if it wasn't for the help of her aunt and the church, things would have been alot different for her. The guy responible for the accident will not even go to the hospitial to work out bill. Hoping money will soon be coming to help. It's not over yet but it's a begenning
We all could use a good saumarition ?
